Adoption
When we first moved to California, our primary focus was on growing our business. We waited to start a family until we felt our life was stable and secure so we could devote time and energy to parenting. After several years of trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant, we learned that our best choices to start a family were lengthy infertility treatments or adoption. Once we got to talking about it, we realized that parenting was more important to us than passing along any of our genes or being pregnant. When we started to look into the different ways to adopt a child, we quickly decided to pursue an open adoption (where the birth family continues to have contact with the child) because we believe this approach is best for everyone involved, especially the child. We want our child to know that his/her birth family made a courageous choice to find an adoptive family and that choice was made out of love. |
